I saw these boots at my local antique store…
Crazy to say but I guess they are “old enough”
I had the same pair as a little girl, down to the rhinestones and everything.
I should’ve bought the boots, but I instead was hesitant, because the little girl I was in those boots. She was innocent and full of life, life of dreams to fill those boots of as rhinestone cowgirl would.
Until the darkness of the sinful world came into play, she wasn’t so innocent or full of life anymore. Because just a few years later, in her princess tent she set up in her room for her first play date with a so-called friend, she learned what darkness felt like. Her innocence had been stolen, by the fingertips of a young seven year old girl. I wish I could tell go back in time and tell her to scream , but she froze.
This story of these poor boots ends in tragedy. But GOD knows. He showed up. In the nick of time, she understood why. She was born to wear those boots. To show up for all the girls who have been through abuse. She didn’t know it at the time, but the Holy Spirit was teaching her how to be strong. So that ten years to the date, she could show up, and have the courage to share her story. Peace she made with herself, seeing those boots for display, on her 24th birthday.
I’ve never shared publicly how deep those wounds are, of the girl who walked in those boots. But I am ready to unpack that one story at a time. In hopes that the right person will see. To felt seen by a God that can and will redeem. What the enemy stole, the Lord will use for your strength and for his glory. What a beautiful thing it was, to walk in those boots. To have child like faith restored at the age of twenty four. Ten years after it all ended. Our God is witty, on purpose and on time. Always he cares, shows up and walks in our shoes with us.
I’m not sad for that little girl anymore, I’m hopeful that the young adult she’s become will help those near to Jesus. This is no longer a story with a tragic ending , it is a story of victory and overcoming all obstacles the enemy has thrown her way.
God thank you, thank you for the girl in those pink rhinestone cowgirl boots. Thank you that she is loved.
